Founded in 1895, the University of Texas at Arlington, a Carnegie Research-1 Institution (Very High Research Activity), is a comprehensive teaching, research, and public service institution dedicated to the advancement of knowledge through scholarship and creative work.  UT Arlington is committed to providing access and ensuring student success, and to a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and commercialization of discoveries by our community of scholars. UT Arlington is one of the most ethnically diverse campuses in the United States, according to rankings of national universities published by U.S. News & World Report in 2020. In fall 2022, the student population was 32% Hispanic, 13% African American, and 12% Asian. UT Arlington has been designated a Hispanic-Serving Institution and an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education.
