Chapitre 1 – Bonjour !
When you meet someone for the first time, you will want to greet them and have a short conversation with them. This chapter will focus on learning basic vocabulary that will allow you to engage in a simple conversation.

- greet someone using culturally appropriate gestures, like “la bise”, and ask how they are
- introduce myself (or someone else)
- say good-bye to someone
- spell my name
- tell someone where I am from (or where someone else is from)
- explain when to use “tu” or “vous” and the difference in formality
- tell someone what I study (or what someone else studies)
- describe a classroom
- identify differences and similarities between schools in French-speaking countries and schools in the U.S.
- readily recognize and use the numbers from 1 to 69
- tell someone the date of my birthday
Interpretive: Read student biographies from Francophone countries and answer corresponding comprehension questions.
Interpersonal: Introduce yourself and your classmates to international students studying at UTA. You will also share a bit about yourself.
Presentational: Write a short biography about yourself to be posted on the International Student Services website. You will also record your biography as a video to be shared on social media.
