Providing individuals with a choice of clean, efficient, and affordable mobility options is a key strategy for reducing the effects of climate change, improving public health and safety, and achieving more equitable and livable communities. To address these policy objectives, students are expected to have a working knowledge of multimodal transportation planning in contemporary practice. In response, graduate urban planning and engineering programs are beginning to address multimodal transportation planning and sustainable transportation in their curricula. This textbook provides Universities with a practical resource for use in teaching multimodal transportation planning and related courses in graduate-level urban planning and engineering programs. OERTransport Multimodal Transportation Planning has been described as a “Great way to present the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary nature of transportation.”
Readers of the text will be able to gain knowledge on a variety of key themes and objectives toward an understanding of the relationship between land use and transportation, the difference between traditional methods and multimodal planning best practices, and the importance of evaluating performance from an accessibility and quality of service perspective.
This textbook is a product of the grant OERTransport: Enabling Transportation Planning Professional Advancement awarded to the University of Texas-Arlington (UTA) in consortium with California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) and the University of South Florida (USF).
